Multiple Clients
While working on a server you often need a second player, for example to test a vehicle system, a trading script or anything else that involves two people. HappinessMP can start several game clients on one PC with a single Rockstar Games account, so you can test these things on your own.
Requirements
-
The server runs in developer mode:
settings.xml<settings><developer>true</developer></settings> -
The launcher option Keep HappinessMP Injected is enabled. It is on by default and is needed for the Steam version as well.
Developer mode is meant for development servers only. Leave it off on public servers.
Starting another client
- Start the game as usual and connect to your server.
- Press F1 to open the console and enter
newinstance.
The new client starts in its own window and connects to the same server. Repeat the command for more clients, up to 8 in total. A client you closed can be started again the same way.
On a server without developer mode, newinstance refuses to start a client, and an additional client
that connects anyway is disconnected with a message before it joins.
What is different in the additional clients
| Additional clients | |
|---|---|
| Window | A smaller window with a frame. With a second monitor it opens there, otherwise in the bottom right corner of the main monitor. You can move it freely. |
| Player name | Your name with the client number appended, for example Niko_2. |
| Social Club | Signed in offline to your local profile. Online features and the Social Club overlay are not available. |
| Overlays | The NVIDIA and Discord overlays are disabled. |
| Crashes | Saved in the crashes folder only, no crash report is sent. |
| Logs | Each client writes its own log file, for example logs/core_2.log. |
